In the past few weeks, another branch was added to the Bergan family tree. Yes, a tiny sprig is now part of the family. I couldn’t be happier. My daughter gave birth to a baby boy in early March. He is a sweet, adorable baby.
There were complications, he had some respiratory struggles, and he had to stay in the NICU for several days. But he came through like a champ and both mom and baby are doing great. During this whole process, I couldn’t help but think of how great it is to have medical science and modern technology there with him in the hospital.
During his stay, I couldn’t help but think about his chances of survival if he been born 100, 50 or even 25 years ago. And when this reality hit, I couldn’t help but be thankful for the chance modern science and medical care gave him.
So I want to stop what I’m doing right now and give thanks to God for this young life and the support that made it happen. May this little sprout grow up to be a healthy and productive member of society.
Have a great week,
Ernie
