Well, I’m back in the kitchen so to speak, and ready to cook. Admittedly, it’s not the same kitchen or the same state, and some utensils are still packed, but it’s time to get back to it. I’m in Texas now and the house in Columbus is close to being sold.
I’m enjoying being closer to the girls and grand kids, despite the TX summer heat. It’s been really hot. How hot? It’s so hot I saw a Robin use an oven mitt to pull a worm out of the ground! I know, I can feel your dad joke groan through my haptic keyboard.
It’s late August, a time when students get back to school and fall is right around the corner. It’s also the end of the baseball season. There are about 30 games left and September is the last month of regular baseball, then it’s on to October and the playoffs, for those good enough to continue.

Why do I mention this? Because last night my beloved San Diego Padres pulled into a tie for 1st place in their division. That’s right, first place. They are making a legitimate play to win the NL West. I couldn’t be more excited. Of course, a lot could happen in the next month and the dreaded Dodgers are not going to go down easily, but I’m hopeful this team could be going somewhere.

We’ll see. Until then I will raise my foam finger and represent by wearing my Padre hat and hope for the best. Go Padres!
Have a great week,
Ernie
