When the kids were young, I used to make up stories to tell them at bedtime. Usually, the stories related to things that were going on in their lives and involved a lot of make believe. Dad’s secret: I would make them up as I told them. Real time. I don’t remember what a lot of these stories were about, but it was a lot of fun, and the kids loved listening to these made-up adventures.
Now I have grandkids, and I want to tell them stories too. So the Adventures of Charlie the Tiger was born, a book about a tiger who loves Slurpees and Go Karts. I just finished another, Gus the Gas Pump.
Here are excerpts from The Adventures of Charlie the Tiger and Gus the Gas Pump.
The Adventures of Charlie the Tiger

Once upon a time, in a green jungle far away, a young tiger named Charlie lived with his family. Charlie was unlike any other tiger in the jungle. While most tigers enjoyed sneaking around in the bushes, playing tag and watching television, Charlie had two unusual hobbies: he loved to drink Slurpees and he loved to ride go-karts.
Gus the Gas Pump

Today Gus the Gas Pump would pump gas for the very first time. He was excited! He had waited a long time for this day to come. Now it was here.
Gus got out of bed and ran to the kitchen. He could smell good things to eat. His mom had fixed a delicious breakfast. Gus gobbled down his gear toast and slurped down the oil, it was time to work!
Have a great week!
